NFL defensive end Chandler James Jones has sparked concern online after a series of bizarre posts took the world by storm. It all started when Chandler accused Raiders team owner Mark Davis of purposefully hiding the identity of the person who allegedly molested his goddaughter. He followed it up by blaming a hacker for the posts before receiving a DNP for his loss against the Buffalo Bills on Sunday.
On September 12th, LeBron James himself gave a special shout-out to Jones, who he called a contender for Defensive Player of the year. But today, Jones responded by tagging LeBron (along with Kodak Black) in a bizarre and nonsensical video while eating cereal in his underwear.

Chandler also revealed a top-secret conversation he had with James shortly after he was mentioned on Twitter. When he slid into LeBron’s DM’s to give thanks, James responded with a statement of support and encouragement, although it’s clear that they aren’t particularly close.

Nobody really knows what’s happening here or what the posts from Chandler mean, but LeBron may have gotten himself mixed in something he will regret. As he prepares for a new season with the Lakers, the last thing he needs is to be involved in some kind of scandal to distract from the team. Throughout his career, LeBron has made it a point to protect the NBA brotherhood and support his fellow athletes. Obviously, as the biggest name in basketball, his influence extends far beyond the NBA and players from all different walks of life have come to forge a real relationship with the NBA legend. Unfortunately for LeBron, it can have severe side effects, and we are seeing that play out now as James gets involuntarily dragged into the Chandler Jones saga.

It remains to be seen what happens with Jones and his situation in the NFL, but don’t expect to hear anything from LeBron on the subject. For the most part, James works hard to keep himself out of situations like this, and he’s not going to get involved in any kind of message or statement that Chandler Jones tries to make.
For this upcoming season with the Lakers, the 21st of his career so far, the pressure falls on James to deliver on expectations and lead the Lakers to a championship. With averages of 28.9 points, 8.3 rebounds, and 6.8 assists per game last season, James is still among the top players in the game, and he will be saddled with big expectations this October.
For the Lakers, the best chance they have to win is if LeBron stays healthy and stays focused on the task at hand, but that’s obviously much easier said than done.
