- Bronny James is going to wear No. 6 with USC
- LeBron James shared a picture of their t-shirts being sold next to each other
- James will be changing his number this upcoming season
LeBron James and his son Bronny’s t-shirts with the No. 6 are being sold next to each other, and the former couldn’t be more proud. James took to Instagram to share a picture that has been doing the rounds on social media of the two t-shirts next to each other.

James is extremely proud of all that his son has achieved, and it would have been quite special for him to see those next to each other. Bronny had actually worn No. 0 during his high school career with Sierra Canyon, but the number was taken at USC.
Kobe Johnson, one of the team captains, wears No. 0 for USC. No. 6 was vacant, though, and it being one of his father’s numbers could be why Bronny went with it. He had also worn No. 6 during the McDonald’s All-American Game earlier this year.
In years past, the 18-year-old wouldn’t have gotten a penny from his merchandise being sold, but with NIL now in place, that’s no longer the case. It was reported that Bronny is the highest NIL earner in the nation at an estimated $7.2 million, and it’s great to see college athletes finally getting paid.
Bronny James Is Expected To Make A Full Recovery
For a short while, it had seemed like Bronny’s basketball career was in serious jeopardy. He suffered a cardiac arrest back in July and while his condition was stable not too long after, doubts were cast on whether he could play basketball at a high level again.
It had also been reported that LeBron and Savannah James would be fine if Bronny never played basketball again. Fortunately, it didn’t come to that.
Bronny is expected to make a full recovery, as a congenital heart defect caused his cardiac arrest. It was reported he will return to playing basketball in the near future, and we can expect him to play for USC at some point in this upcoming season.
LeBron James Will Be Switching Back To No. 23
LeBron had worn No. 6 the last two seasons, and the number is quite close to his heart. James revealed the reasons for wearing No. 6 on his jersey, and some of them were Bronny being born on October 6th, and Bryce being born in June, the sixth month of the year.
He had won his first two championships while wearing No. 6 with the Miami Heat and also broke the all-time scoring record while wearing it for the Los Angeles Lakers, but it was time to switch it up. LeBron will change from No. 6 to No. 23 out of respect for Bill Russell this upcoming season.
The NBA retired the number league-wide in August 2022 following Russell’s passing, but players like James, who were already wearing it, were allowed to keep it. Lebron wore it last season to honor Russell but is now switching back to 23.
It was while wearing No. 23 that he won his last two titles, including his only one with the Lakers back in 2020. The front office has now built up arguably the Lakers’ best roster since that 2019-20 season, and James has his eyes fixed on winning another title.
The 38-year-old is still going strong, having averaged 28.9 points, 8.3 rebounds, 6.8 assists, 0.9 steals, and 0.6 blocks per game in the 2022-23 season. There’s only so much longer even he can play at a high level, though, and James would be desperate to win his fifth title in the upcoming season.
