- Austin Reaves’ brother ensured he got roasted differently during the Lithuania game
Austin Reaves has quickly become one of the most hyped NBA players around, following his breakout playoff run with the Los Angeles Lakers in 2023.
After signing a $56 million contract with the Lakers, Austin Reaves has been going from strength to strength. But following Team USA’s World Cup loss to Lithuania, he was at the receiving end of some trolling. And his brother took issue with that.
Spencer Reaves posted on X saying, “People really had ‘Austin Reaves sucks’ tweets just waiting in the drafts for a bad game.”

Austin Reaves being on the Team USA roster was something that was widely discussed when the team was first announced. But having proved his ability to plenty of people, Austin Reaves has received a lot of praise in recent months.
Having made just two field goals in the last two games Team USA has played in though, some roasting was bound to come his way. His brother Spencer defending him makes sense too, but being in the spotlight is always a sword that cuts both ways.

Spencer Reaves may defend his brother against trolls online, but he had his little surprise planned for Austin during the Lithuania game.
Having played with Lithuanian player Vaidas Kariniauskas for the German club Brose Bamberg, Spencer seemingly asked his former teammate to trash-talk his brother a bit, which he did.

Kariniauskas revealed after the game that Spencer Reaves asked him to do it, saying, “Nothing personal, just love for the game. I played with his brother last year, so I talked with him before the game, he said, ‘Give him a trash talk.’ So I gave him that.”
Austin Reaves’ brother, Spencer, is also a professional basketball player, so he knows what it takes to make it to the highest level and perform. The limelight for Austin Reaves may be massive, but his family seems to be prepared for it.
Austin Reaves Is Making The Most Of His Opportunity On Team USA
Fans can argue all they like about whether Austin Reaves deserves to be on Team USA or not, but the fact remains that he’s made it. He’s not sitting by idly either, Austin Reaves cheekily revealed he’s been recruiting for the Los Angeles Lakers.
But there is a lot more to it than that. Representing Team USA means a lot to Austin Reaves. He opened up about it and his other successes in a recent interview.
“This has been a very amazing year for myself and my family. A lot of good things have happened, but I feel like it’s kind of well-deserved.
“I feel like my whole life I’ve worked for this. I’ve never taken shortcuts, it’s always been the hard path. And I feel like I’m finally getting rewarded for everything that I’ve put into it so far.”
At 25 years of age, Austin Reaves seemingly has a long and fruitful career ahead of him. If he can help Team USA win the FIBA World Cup and cement his status as a starter for the Los Angeles Lakers, the haters will soon have nothing left to say.
