  • The Los Angeles Lakers have been mentioned as a potential future destination for Giannis Antetokounmpo
  • An NBA executive believes the only way for the Lakers to get Antetokounmpo is by trading Anthony Davis
  • The Los Angeles Lakers are unlikely to get Antetokounmpo in free agency

There is no doubt that Giannis Antetokounmpo is one of the premier superstars in the league, and the majority of NBA analysts and fans don’t have him outside of the top 5 in the league. He is the face of the Milwaukee Bucks, and as long as he is on the roster, they will be a contending team.

Even though Giannis Antetokounmpo has consistently been loyal to the Milwaukee Bucks, there has been a lot of speculation about him potentially requesting a trade. The Los Angeles Lakers are looming as a potential future destination for Antetokounmpo, and recently an NBA executive who spoke to Sean Deveney of Heavy revealed the only way that the Lakers would be able to land the superstar.

“If the Lakers wanted Giannis, they’d have to convince Milwaukee AD is healthy, then make the trade. It is just too much money to try to sign him in free agency if LeBron is still there… To me, they’d have to trade him for Davis. that’s the only way he gets to L.A.”

Anthony Davis is a top-tier big man, and at his best, he can be an MVP-level superstar. Still, Giannis Antetokounmpo is much better and more consistent as of right now, and if the Lakers have an opportunity to get him, they should absolutely do so.

This past season, Giannis Antetokounmpo had another elite year, averaging 31.1 points, 11.8 rebounds, and 5.7 assists per game for the Milwaukee Bucks. He is in the middle of his prime right now, and should squarely be in the MVP conversation next season.

The Chicago Bulls Are Also A Threat To Sign Giannis Antetokounmpo

If Giannis Antetokounmpo were to ever want out from the Milwaukee Bucks, he would likely have a lot of suitors. That would also be the case if he were to hit free agency, and the superstar could do so in 2025 if he declines his $51.9 million option. If that happens, the Chicago Bulls are a team that could sign Antetokounmpo in 2025 free agency.

The Chicago Bulls are a big market franchise, and in theory, they would be a great spot for Antetokounmpo if they could put him next to star Zach LaVine. As of right now, it is too early to definitively say that Giannis Antetokounmpo will join the Chicago Bulls, and we’ll have to wait and see what the superstar decides regarding his NBA future.

Giannis Antetokounmpo Does Not Want To Stay With The Milwaukee Bucks And Never Win Another Championship

Though at his core Giannis Antetokounmpo is a loyal player, winning matters to the superstar just as much as loyalty. In fact, Antetokounmpo previously said that he doesn’t want to spend 20 years with the Bucks and never win another championship. It is easy to see why the superstar has taken that stance: legacies for great players are defined by championships, and the more Antetokounmpo wins the better he will be remembered.

With that being said, the Milwaukee Bucks still have a little bit of time to build around Giannis Antetokounmpo and convince him to stay long-term with the franchise. They will have to do it sooner rather than later though, as the clock is already starting to tick.
