• Shaquille O’Neal claimed he’d be dominant in any era

• The center shared a clip of him playing Scottie Pippen one-on-one in his playing days

• O’Neal gave Pippen buckets from all over the court

Shaquille O’Neal may be the most dominant paint presence basketball has ever seen, but he had a varied game that he didn’t highlight in the NBA.

Shaq showed off his handle, and mid-range scoring ability, and even hit a three-pointer in a clip of a one-on-one against Scottie Pippen. He shared the same with a caption that claimed his skill set transcends eras.

“No way Shaq played in the era. Yea, right. #MDE could have played in any era.”

‘MDE’ is a clear reference to a title many have given Shaq, which is ‘Most Dominant Ever’. In his prime, O’Neal was quite literally unstoppable. He changed the way teams would construct rosters, hiring big men to just pick up fouls as they employed ‘Hack-A-Shaq’ tactics to force him to the free throw line.

Shaquille O’Neal Had An Unmatchable Prime

The four-time champion averaged 23.7 points, 10.9 rebounds, and 2.5 assists. and 2.3 blocks per game over his career, though his last few years in the league were unremarkable due to his age and mobility.

O’Neal is often considered the greatest modern center of all time and is in conversation with the likes of Kareem Abdul-Jabbar for the all-time crown. Unfortunately, his 15 All-Star appearances and 14 All-NBA selections don’t match up to Kareem, who enjoyed a longer career and outranks Shaq in most statistical categories. Many compare their careers, though they are both legendary in their own regard.

What Shaq did during his time in the NBA will be studied for generations, writing the book on how dominant paint presences can run the league.
