76ers Star Joel Embiid Was Turned Down “Many Times” In Attempts To Convince James Harden To Stay With The 76ers

Joel Embiid has tried several times this summer to quell the James Harden situation.

  • Philly era is over for Harden after a failed chat with co-star
  • Fans wonder about the future of the 76ers amid ongoing chaos
  • Harden rebuffed Embiid after multiple attempts to make peace

If you didn’t already think the James Harden era was over in Philadelphia, the most recent turn of events should be all you need to call it a warp for the franchise and its disgruntled star. Apparently, as revealed on The Athletic’s NBA Show, even Joel Embiid has been denied in his attempts to reconcile the relationship between James and Daryl Morey.

Joel Embiid reportedly tried to get James Harden to stay on the 76ers many times this summer, but Harden wasn’t interested.

Embiid is the franchise star and leader of the 76ers, and it’s clear he wanted Harden to return so they can try and win a title together. Sadly for Joel, there is no convincing Harden to stay anymore, who is doing everything he can to force Morey’s hand and book his ticket out of town.

For Embiid, it’s yet another summer of chaos and uncertainty that will leave him alone, without a co-star, on a team that’s never been to the Conference Finals.

So even, despite Embiid’s loyalty on the surface, fans are less than convinced about his long-term future with the franchise.

It’s Full Crisis Mode For The 76ers

In today’s age, it’s almost impossible to keep stars happy, and Embiid is already sending hints that his patience with the Sixers is starting to wear thin.

For now, with four years remaining on his deal (including a player option on the final year), Joel is still locked-in to Philly for a few more years but he’ll have some leverage if he ever decides to pull the trigger on a trade request. With averages of 33.1 points, 10.2 rebounds, and 4.2 assists per game, teams across the league will be lining up for a chance to acquire his talent.

This is all a nightmare scenario for the 76ers franchise, but they can blame nobody but themselves for this collapse. It was Philly who whiffed on several lottery picks, and the Sixers who failed to capitalize on the talent of Ben Simmons.

With Harden, they are once again failing their star and the fans — and this time, the impact may be felt for years to come.
