Who knows more about shooting than the greatest shooter of all time, Stephen Curry? The Golden State Warriors recently shared some important tips about shooting.
Curry made an appearance on the famous YouTube show ‘Hot Ones.’ During the show, Curry discussed why the angle of your elbow is very crucial for making shots consistently in the NBA. Steph also revealed the ‘deadliest sin’ in basketball shooting.
“Getting really technical here, the angle of your elbow,” Curry said. “Because It’s really hard if you have the chicken wing or you rarely see this one, where people come through here and bring it back out. The chicken wing is deadly because it’s hard to create the same arc with it and the same power. You can get everything from here [lower body], but as soon as you get here [shooting form], you lose it.
“As long as your elbow is kind of as close to 90 degrees as possible, I’m much more confident in somebody being able to repeat that. That’s the one I hate to see, the deadliest sin in basketball shooting, the chicken wing.”

Curry didn’t take any names when mentioning the chicken wing form. However, a player who had a similar form was Michael Kidd-Gilchrist.
Michael Kidd-Gilchrist was picked by the Charlotte Hornets using the second overall pick in the 2012 NBA Draft. Kidd-Gilchrist had an 8-year-long career in the NBA, where he averaged 8.4 PPG, 5.4 RPG, and 1.2 APG.
He could never become a consistent shooter throughout his career, and Curry may have provided an answer to that question by explaining his poor shooting form.

“I’d say Ray Allen. I think his form, his dedication to his craft, hit big shots in his career,” Curry said.
It’s no surprise that Curry picked him as the second-best shooter of all time. Allen knocked down several big shots in his career, including the game-tying shot in Game 6 of the 2013 NBA Finals.
