Shaquille O’Neal is one of the most generous players in NBA history. Regardless of what he has, Shaq always tries to help other players, whether that be through money, or through some other method.
O’Neal’s generosity has been talked about in more recent years, but it has gone back several years.
In an interview, former Lakers star and current Clippers head coach Tyronn Lue spoke about his first experience as a Los Angeles Lakers.
He noted that upon his first time meeting Shaquille O’Neal, The Diesel invited him to a meal at his house, and at the meal, gave Lue $20,000 because the lockout would have meant Lue wouldn’t have immediate access to funds.
Shaq was like, ‘Man, glad to have you. Come to the house tomorrow, have a big meal, whatever, whatever’. And so we go over to Shaq’s house the next day. He gives me, I think, twenty-thousand dollars cash. Like, ‘I know you ain’t got no money. I know it’s the lockout. You know, take care of yourself’.”
“(He) fed us well, and that kind of helped me out because I would have been in awe. I don’t know what I would have expected if I just walked into practice and seen Shaq and Kobe, you know? And so, Shaq just made me feel welcome right away.

Shaq, despite being a superstar for the Lakers, and one of the best players in the NBA, welcomed a rookie like Lue with open arms and showed him a lot of kindness and generosity. O’Neal was truly gracious to his teammates.
