Victor Wembanyama is the most hyped-up prospect to enter the NBA since LeBron James back in 2003. His unique blend of size and skill has made him seem like a unicorn that is going to be something fans have never seen before.

But for every person that believes in Wembanyama, many doubt his potential impact on the NBA. One of those people is the legendary Tim Hardaway Sr. He has given a somewhat more mellow take on what Wemby can become.

“I’m sorry, and you know what, y’all think this is going to happen,” Hardway Sr. said. “That man is going to be an alright basketball player. I’m sorry… We’ll see. We will see. It’s going to take him Year 4 to get to… I’m done with this conversation. You can say what you wanna say. I know about these things.”

Victor Wembanyama’s Summer League debut certainly gave some more ammo to the people like Hardaway Sr. who don’t believe that he has what it takes to be truly great. He managed just nine points and eight rebounds in his first game, although he did contribute five blocks. Many fans were convinced that the hype was all about nothing in that game.

He proved everyone wrong and showed his true potential in the second game he played in Summer League though. Wembanyama had 27 points, 12 rebounds, and three blocks in that game. It’s too early to say what he will be or won’t be in the NBA and the perfect way to go about it is to simply wait and watch how everything unfolds.

Tim Hardaway Sr. Also Said Bol Bol Is Better Than Victor Wembanyama

Tim Hardaway Sr. feels like a bit of a hater at this point. This is the second take he has given about Wembanyama that is a bit outlandish, to say the least. On Thursday, he claimed that Bol Bol was more ready for the NBA than Wemby

“I think he’s better than Victor Wamb… whatever his name is,” Hardaway Sr. said on The Carton Show. “Bol Bol has better physical talent and is ready to play in the NBA right now than Victor is.”

Tim Hardaway Sr. has been known in the past to say some wild things, but his Wemby takes are truly over the top at the moment. If the French phenom cannot adjust, then Hardaway will be proven right, but it’s more likely that this take will age poorly than not.
