Dennis Rodman has lived as wild a life as arguably anyone in the history of humanity. Not only did he win five NBA championships in his career, but he also dated Madonna and Carmen Electra and married himself at one point.

Bar none, the wildest thing about Rodman has been his friendship with Kim Jong Un, the North Korean leader. The man was a huge fan of the Chicago Bulls, and after Rodman agreed to go visit North Korea, they ended up becoming friends.

Describing his meeting with Kim Jong Un, Rodman said, “Next thing you know, this little guy walks in. A little guy. I had three interpreters with me, and I said, ‘Who’s that kid?’ And they said, ‘That’s the Supreme Leader.’ So I’m like, ‘You wanna inform me what that means? That guy like the President guy?’ He says, ‘Nah it’s his country.’

“That right there shocked me. I’ve never in my life seen nothing like that. A lot of things kinda shocked me. But that right there, when I was in North Korea and I saw him walk in, it was like, Jesus, Moses, and God just walked in here and like, just got blessed.

“When he sat down, they kept going. They kept clapping… It was like 20 minutes of this sh*t… I just kept looking at him like, ‘Is he that powerful?’ And yeah man, throughout the time I was in North Korea, he hung out with me the whole time. I went to his house, he just had a newborn baby. I gave his baby a ’91 jersey. And his wife. I think they love me…”

Considering that Kim Jong Un and North Korea have such a tense relationship with the United States, it’s unbelievable that Dennis Rodman was able to do this. It beggars belief that an NBA star was important enough to get into the country when diplomats have a hard time doing the same. The power of sports is truly wild.

Dennis Rodman’s Life Has Been A Roller Coaster

The stories that Dennis Rodman tells about himself and that others have told about him all seem outlandish in one way or another. Like the time he ate off of other people’s plates in Charles Oakley’s steakhouse. Or the time he revealed that he lost his virginity for $20. Or the time he… The point is made.

Rodman was one of the greatest defensive players and rebounders in NBA history, but his legend is far greater than what he did on the basketball court. Even the most unbelievable players may be seen their game make a return to the NBA someday, but a personality like Rodman surely only happens once in a lifetime.
