Golden State Warriors superstar Stephen Curry is widely considered the greatest shooter the NBA has ever seen. So it’s rare for a fan to get an opportunity to receive shooting tips from a master of the craft.

During a recent golfing excursion, Curry helped a fan with his jump shot. While initially gauging the mechanics of the shot, the Warriors guard acknowledged that the problem could be fixed in a matter of seconds.

“You see how there’s no space in there?” Curry said, pointing to the gap between the ball and palm. “It’s more of a fingertip shot. I want it to roll off the fingertips more. I need more space in here.”

After adjusting, he continued, “You feel the difference in there? The only thing that’s different now is when you shoot, when you release it, the fingertips will get more involved and allow you to spin the ball.”

Curry acknowledged that the mechanics weren’t flawed, but this small tweak could instantly improve the shot. Like clockwork, as the fan attempted the shot after following the star’s advice, the ball went through the net, though rattling around the rim a bit before doing so.

The advice provided by the Warriors guard also resulted in a slight change in the trajectory of the shot, allowing it to carry further. With the additional rotations from the increased involvement of the fingertips playing a more significant role, a friendly bounce was inevitable.

Moments like these display how great an impact the finer details can have on a skill such as shooting. With an expert like Curry acting as a guide, addressing these shortcomings also becomes an easier task.

This acts as a testament to the guard’s greatness. While known for his shooting prowess, talent can only explain so much of his success.

Curry’s relentless work ethic and the hours committed to perfecting his craft helped create a certain standard for excellence, which, paired with experience, helps in identifying the flaws in the process.

The 11-time All-Star’s dedication has been acknowledged by several in the basketball community, players and fans alike.

As the NBA’s all-time leader in three-pointers made, Curry cemented his legacy as the greatest shooter the NBA has ever seen. Since breaking the record, the guard has only gone on to demonstrate the extent of his abilities by baffling crowds with ridiculous spectacles of sharpshooting.

Even at 37 years old, potentially entering the last stages of his career, the Warriors star remains a lethal presence on the floor.

Heading into the 2025-26 season, Curry will look to lead Golden State to a solid showing. Given the Dubs’ current roster, this may prove to be a challenging task, but considering his abilities and championship pedigree, it is increasingly difficult to count him out.
