Apart from that, the 23-year-old recently found himself amidst a lot of controversy related to porn star Moriah Mills. Amidst such controversies, Trey Murphy III came to Zion Williamson’s support.
“People have to understand that Zion is still a kid,” Murphy III said on the Road Trippin podcast. “He’s younger than I am. He’s been in the league for five years going on, but he’s still a kid, so he’s going to go through these lumps. And he’s going to have times where he needs to, you know, mature like any other kid or young man has to do. You also have to understand he’s been in the limelight since he was 16 years old.
“It’s hard to stay in that limelight for that long and try to not make mistakes. Obviously, some mistakes that you can’t make, some mistakes that you can definitely avoid, but everybody’s human at the end of the day, so you have to give him some grace.”
To be honest, Williamson just turned 23 years old and he has a lot to learn about life. Had Zion been led by quality veterans, he may have never gone down the same path. But at the end of the day, Williamson’s controversies will only help him in becoming a better person.
Zion averaged 26.0 PPG, 7.0 RPG, and 4.6 APG over 29 games in the 2022-23 NBA season. Fans will hope for him to take the next step and play the majority of the season.
