The Boston Celtics could be championship favorites if they managed to land Damian Lillard this summer. It won’t be easy by any means since trading for Lillard means parting with Jaylen Brown.
Even though Jayson Tatum is reportedly recruiting Lillard to the C’s, the team has reportedly decided against trading for Lillard, according to Adam Himmelsbach of the Boston Globe.
-Per sources, the Celtics are not expected to be in the mix for Damian Lillard.
-Jaylen Brown’s extension remains on course, with talks expected in Vegas.
-More on why the Celtics and Grant Williams parted ways.

The Celtics are having a pretty interesting offseason, first landing Kristaps Porzingis and trading Marcus Smart away. Then, they let Grant Williams go via sign-and-trade with the Dallas Mavericks.
Since Damian Lillard requested a trade, they have been involved in rumors regarding the player. With the Miami Heat being Lillard’s preferred destination, the Celtics won’t have much to do in this one-team race.
Dame’s agent confirmed he called a series of teams to tell them that trading for Lillard won’t work for them, as they only want to play for the Miami Heat starting next season. After many years in Portland, Lillard is doing what everybody told him to do, and nobody can be mad at him for that.
Lillard Isn’t Interested In Celtics, Sixers, Or Nets
There are more teams interested in Lillard, but the player only has eyes for one franchise. The Celtics, Philadelphia 76ers, and Brooklyn Nets, three other Eastern Contenders, were mentioned among potential landings for Dame, but according to Aaron Fentress of the Oregonian, he’s not interested in any of them.
This has become the saga of the summer when everybody thought it would be solved fast and easily. However, the Blazers want to get a huge return for Lillard, one of the best players in his position in the NBA in the past couple of seasons.
They still need to find a third team that wants to get something from this, but it remains to be seen which organization will be involved in negotiations this summer.
