In what comes as a shocking update in the whole Damian Lillard to the Miami Heat saga, the star guard’s agent Aaron Goodwin has reportedly been calling other NBA teams apart from the Heat and warning them against trading for him.

ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported the development in his latest column, saying all efforts are being made from Lillard’s camp for him to jet to Miami.

“As Cronin explores the broader landscape, Lillard’s agent, Aaron Goodwin, has been calling prospective trade partners and warning against trading for his client, team executives told ESPN. Goodwin is telling organizations outside of Miami that trading for Lillard is trading for an unhappy player. As interference goes, this is a time-honored agent maneuver to depress offers and clear a path to a predetermined destination.”

He further added that GMs who spoke to the network also suggested that the pressure applied by Goodwin won’t necessarily impact how they would plan their next moves. They would have the 32-year-old under contract for four years.

This shows that Lillard and his agent are set to play hardball and force their way out of Portland if the franchise does not make the exit a seamless process.

On their end, the Blazers have remained firm on their stance of not moving the needle if they don’t have the right assets in return.

The Portland Trail Blazers Aren’t Impressed With Miami’s Trade Packages For Damian Lillard

A recent report from Adrian Wojnarowski revealed that the Blazers have been too unimpressed with the Heat’s packages for Lillard, and hinted that he could be moved to a different team instead.

“Portland I’m told, is not impressed with what Miami has to offer him. While it is Damian Lillard’s preference to go to the Heat… Portland needs maximum value…”

Miami will ensure they do anything to land Lillard, and they will likely explore every option they have to try and get him. Previously, reports said that the team is willing to give up any tradeable assets on their roster except for Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo.

“Take anyone you want besides Bam Adebayo and Jimmy Butler… The Heat is all-in on this. This is their moment.”

Only time will tell if it’s Miami or a new franchise in the wings for Lillard. All we can say is that the signs of the exit look a bit murky than expected.
