The Los Angeles Lakers have made a number of solid free-agency moves this summer, and there’s no doubt that signing point guard Gabe Vincent was one of them. Vincent was notably a key part of the Miami Heat’s run to the Finals in the playoffs, hitting some huge shots along the way.
Recently, we saw Gabe Vincent explain what he brings to the table and how he will fit in with the Los Angeles Lakers. He stated that the team already has “a little bit of everything” and noted that his role “might be different” from night to night.
“[Lakers] have a little bit of everything. They have size. They have athleticism. They have leadership. They got stars. I bring a little bit of toughness on defense, I bring some playmaking, I can make open shots. I think I showed in Miami that my game is pretty versatile… I could come in and just try to impact winning in a number of ways and every night it might be different.”

The Lakers signed Gabe Vincent to a three-year, $33 million deal, and there is no doubt that this is a solid amount to pay for one of the best backup point guards in the league.
Gabe Vincent had a bit of a breakout run in the playoff with the Miami Heat, averaging 12.7 PPG, 1.4 RPG, and 3.5 APG, while shooting 37.8% from 3PT range on 6.1 attempts a game. Hopefully, he can replicate his play from the postseason throughout the whole regular season.
Gabe Vincent Could Start For The Los Angeles Lakers If He Outplays D’Angelo Russell In Training Camp
Many people expect point guard D’Angelo Russell to start for the Los Angeles Lakers, and for good reason, as he is a very versatile offensive player. However, it was previously reported that Gabe Vincent could become the starting point guard if he manages to outplay Russell in training camp.
“The projected lineups are fluid. Russell is the early favorite to start at point guard, but Vincent could earn the spot if he outplays him in training camp, team sources told The Athletic.”
There is no doubt that Gabe Vincent would be a solid starter, in particular, due to his defense and shooting ability. We will see whether he manages to earn a starting spot with the Lakers in the future.
