Jayson Tatum reportedly recruited Damian Lillard to the Boston Celtics.

In the aftermath of the Portland Trail Blazers guard asking out, a Sports Illustrated report said that according to Marc Spears of ESPN and Andscape, “Jayson Tatum is recruiting Damian Lillard to join the Celtics.”

This comes after NBA insider Chris Haynes said that Lillard wasn’t interested in taking his talents to Boston. Lillard himself had not mentioned the Celtics as one of his preferred landing spots, and now all eyes will be on Tatum to see if he can be successful in adding one of the best guards in the game to the team.

From a contract standpoint, Lillard is set to make $45.6 million for the upcoming campaign, $48.8 million for the 2024-25 season, $58.5 million for 2025-26, and a $63.2 million player option for the 2026-27 edition.

Should the Celtics indeed make a beeline for Lillard, one will wonder if it would come at the cost of sacrificing Jaylen Brown. Or if they indeed to keep the latter, then the depth would take a hit.

With the Celtics already acquiring Kristaps Porzingis, a court with Lillard on their team automatically makes them title contenders. Lillard’s announcement to play elsewhere will surely change the balance of power to the conference of whichever team he plays next.

Rival Teams Are Reportedly Scared Of The Miami Heat Potentially Forming Their Next ‘Big 3’

Eastern Conference rivals to the Miami Heat are reportedly worried about how the franchise is set to form a potential blockbuster ‘big 3’ that features Damian Lillard.

“Zach Lowe, on ESPN, just now mentioned he got texts from a couple of people who work for good teams in the East and the theme is ‘God dammit..they think he’s coming to Miami… thinking how are we going to deal with that big three ?’ (if Blazers accommodate him),” Heat reporter Barry Jackson said in the wake of Lillard’s trade request wanting out of Portland.

Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo are two bonafide stars in the NBA, and adding Lillard will massively boost their chances to win championships for next years to come. The guard heads to a new team on the back of some big numbers last season, averaging 32.2 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 7.3 assists.

Couple this with Butler and Adebayo’s abilities to impact both ends of the floor, the Heat will surely be a powerhouse.
