The Miami Heat are reportedly working to get a deal done for Damian Lillard. The star point guard requested a trade from the Portland Trail Blazers on Saturday after a disappointing stint that only saw him reach the Western Conference Finals in 2019.

After asking out, reports suggested that his desire is to play with the Miami Heat before any other team. This appears to be a match made in heaven, but the Heat are yet to complete this trade. While this move is still a work in progress, East rivals are reportedly worried about Dame joining forces with Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo.

“Zach Lowe, on ESPN, just now mentioned he got texts from couple people who work for good teams in East and theme is ‘God dammit..they think he’s coming to Miami… thinking how are we going to deal with that big three ?’ (if Blazers accommodate him),” Heat reporter Barry Jackson wrote in the wake of the Lillard trade request.

After reaching the 2023 NBA Finals, some thought the Heat going to the championship series was just a fluke. Now, they can become perennial title contenders with Dame on the roster.

Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo are two big stars in the league, but adding Lillard will maximize their chances to compete for the championship for many years to come. This won’t come easily, but the Heat fans are already dreaming about the star trio of Lillard, Butler and Adebayo.

The point guard had another big season, individually speaking, averaging 32.2 points, 7.3 assists and 4.8 rebounds in 58 games, earning All-NBA honors at the end of the season.

The Heat Are Still Trying To Find A Way To Land Damian Lillard

The Heat and Portland Trail Blazers are working to get this deal completed, but it seems like a third time will be needed to make this trade a reality.

Tyler Herro appears to be set to leave the Heat this summer, and Lillard is waiting to see if he can get his wish granted or if the Blazers ship him to a different destination.
