The Phoenix Suns are landing another big name in the 2023 NBA free agency. The team entered the open market with only five players under contract and the first three days of free agency have been terrific for them.
The latest addition to the team is Eric Gordon, who last played for the Los Angeles Clippers, and was eliminated by the Suns in the First Round of the 2023 NBA playoffs. The sharpshooter is joining the Suns on an undisclosed deal, reports Shams Charania of The Athletic.
“Free agent Eric Gordon has agreed to a deal with the Phoenix Suns, sources tell @TheAthletic @Stadium. Massive get for the Suns.”

Gordon reportedly had more options to sign this summer, including the Golden State Warriors and Houston Rockets, per Kelly Iko of The Athletic.
“The former Sixth Man of the Year had recently narrowed his choices down to Phoenix, Golden State and had even considered a reunion in Houston, sources said.”

After joining the Los Angeles Clippers and playing only 22 games with them, Gordon averaged 11.0 points, 2.1 assists and 1.7 rebounds. The decision of letting him go was heavily criticized around the league, and the Suns cashed in on that situation, acquiring the sharpshooter.
The Phoenix Suns Have Put Together A Solid Team
After a tumultuous start to the free agency, the Suns pulled off a series of moves that put him in a good position to compete for big things next season. Adding players like Yuta Watanabe, Keita Bates-Diop, and now Gordon, they are in a privileged position ahead of the 2023-24 NBA season.
It remains to be seen how they fare in the stacked Western Conference, but the Suns are looking like a solid squad. They can aspire to win a championship next year with their Big Four, but the depth they have come playoff time will play a key role in their quest.
