The Miami Heat are set to have an entertaining offseason, despite being very quiet in free agency. The Floridian team is still trying to land the best available player on the trade market, but they need to find a third franchise to make the trade come through.

Meanwhile, they are reportedly looking for more additions to the roster after losing a couple of important pieces in free agency. According to Greg Sylvander of Five Reasons Sports, the Heat are interested in Landry Shamet of the Washington Wizards.

“As this complicated multi-team trade is being worked on to land Lillard in Miami, a player who Miami has expressed interest in, per source, is sharpshooter Landry Shamet who is now in Washington.”

Couple notes (sorry for longer tweet)

Heat interest stems from chance Strus, Robinson and Herro could all be moved, hence the need for replenishment of shooters.

Shamet landed in D.C. in the blockbuster deal that sent Chris Paul to Washington and Bradley Beal to Phoenix. CP3 left and joined the Golden State Warriors while Shamet is staying in D.C., set to help Jordan Poole and Kyle Kuzma compete for important things in the future.

In 40 games last season, Shamet averaged 8.7 points, 2.3 assists, and 1.7 rebounds. He shot 37.7% from three-point distance and 37.7% from the field.

The Heat could end up having a terrific team to compete for a spot in the NBA Finals next season, but they need to sort some things out before getting their hands on one of the most sought-after players in the NBA right now.

Miami Is Still Focused On Landing Damian Lillard

Damian Lillard remains the team’s top priority this offseason, and the player is keen to join the Heat no matter what. Dame has informed the Portland Trail Blazers he wants to join the Heat and no other team, but the packages Miami has offered aren’t appealing to the Blazers.

A third team will be needed to complete this move, which could change the NBA landscape this summer. After many years of trying to win in Portland, Lillard is set to leave his first and only NBA team. This is still a work in progress, but the Heat are confident they can get it done.
