Stephen A. Smith sounded off on the violence in the Black community, calling for it to stop immediately.
Speaking on the Stephen A. Smith Show, the NBA analyst digressed from his take on basketball matters to a topic whose discussion is the need of the hour.
“We need each other. We need each other living, we need each other breathing. We need to uplift one another. To galvanize, to inspire, to motivate. We need to make sure that our eyes are dotted and our T’s are crossed. And we can see the forest from the trees. Not smoke one another and take one another out and damn sure not be quiet about it!”
“But that’s what a lot of people want. You want the Stephen A’s of the world to shut the hell up, and I am not talking about the White community. I am not talking about the Hispanic community. I am talking about my own community.”
We need to stop killing one another.
I will not shut up about this. It is too important. pic.twitter.com/fZwisUg4yW

Smith’s rant comes amid the Black violence that’s seen a rise in the country. And this isn’t the first time he raised the issue on the show.
Earlier, the analyst expressed his frustration about the events in Chicago on Memorial Day Weekend with as many as 53 people shot and 11 killed.
“This S**t Is Pissing Me Off”: Stephen A. Smith On The Crimes
In connection to the Black-on-Black crimes, Stephen A. Smith launched into a tirade last month following the tragic Chicago incident.
“When we gonna look at ourselves when it comes to Black people being killed in the streets of America? I don’t even want to get into what happened in Chicago, but I have no choice,” Smith said.
He called for accountability, while also adding that there was a lack of outcry. “If one Black person was killed by the police, we’d raise holy hell, and in some cases, there’d be riots in the streets. And dammit, I’m not here to sit up there and blame anybody for that, because I’m tired of the nonsense that we’ve seen going on in the streets aimed at Black Americans. That’s not where I’m going. What I’m saying is, where’s the due diligence when it comes to putting a spotlight on what we are doing to each other?” Smith said.
It’s heartening to see Smith takes his stance on things that matter. While some of his hot takes in sports might be questionable, there’s no doubt that he’s speaking his mind and is not at fault for his comments at this particular time.
