Anthony Edwards had Twitter in a tizzy when he shared a message that he doesn’t want women hitting him up after he signed his max contract with the Minnesota Timberwolves.

“Aye, all you females who think you can come up after signing the contract, she the only one,” he said, pointing his camera to his girlfriend. “I’m a lil green for her.”

The video comes on the back of the $260 million deal he inked for five years. The Wolves all but made it clear that they would build around Edwards with the mammoth contract.

His new contract will be in effect from the 2024-25 season. Edwards is now the fourth player to get the maximum rookie-scale extension so far this summer, joining Indiana Pacers’ Tyrese Haliburton, Charlotte Hornets’ LaMelo Ball, and Memphis Grizzlies’ Desmond Bane.

And by the looks of it, the young guard also made it clear that he was taken and that no one else is entertained. That ought to make his partner happy.

Anthony Edwards Has Proved He Deserves The Contract

Anthony Edwards was one of the stellar performers for the Wolves this past season, averaging 24.6 points per game and making the All-Star cut.

He was a force in the playoffs as well, notching up 31.6 points, 5.2 assists, 5.0 rebounds, and 2.0 blocks despite the team falling to the Denver Nuggets, who would eventually go on to win the championship.

In the absence of Karl-Anthony Towns, Edwards led from the front with Rudy Gobert in tow, and he handled responsibility admirably.

To top it all, he’s made it clear that he’s chasing Michael Jordan, and that is a bold claim. “I’m chasing my boy MJ, for sure,” Edwards said. “It’ll be hard, but I’m chasing him.”

Maybe the five-year deal is the start of the rise of Edwards.
