The Phoenix Suns have assembled a big three going into the new season. The Suns traded veteran point guard Chris Paul in a package to land Bradley Beal from the Wizards. The Suns now have one of the most potent offensive trios in the NBA. And now, they’re looking to bolster their squad even more.
NBA insider Keith Pompey revealed recently that the Phoenix Suns are interested in landing 76ers star Tobias Harris in a trade.
Harris is a proven player who can put up All-Star numbers when asked upon and also plays solid defense. Additionally, Harris has experience playing alongside superstars and ball-dominant players such as James Harden and Joel Embiid.
The Suns want the Sixers to facilitate a 3-team deal that would land Tobias Harris in Phoenix, according to a league source. The third team would take Suns center Deandre Ayton and send assets to Philly.https://t.co/O8bmmIPpJ5 via @phillyinquirer

Pompey also noted that the 76ers want a massive package for Tobias Harris, but that could prove to be a problem for the Suns.
The Suns’ biggest asset is DeAndre Ayton, whom they would have to move to accommodate Tobias Harris. The 76ers would want to bring in a third team in any deal, as the 76ers would have no interest in Ayton because they have Joel Embiid.
Can The Suns Pull Off This Deal?
The Suns would have to pull off a negotiating masterclass to bring Tobias Harris into the team. But it’s hard to argue that the move wouldn’t be worth it. Harris is a proven player who has shown he can play on a championship contender, without trying to usurp his teammates who have a bigger role in the team.
Last season, Tobias Harris averaged 14.7 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 2.5 assists in 74 games. Harris’s dad expressed discontent on how he has been used, so maybe there is some desire to leave for him.
Combining this with three excellent scorers in Kevin Durant, Devin Booker, and Bradley Beal would make for a solid quartet set to dominate the NBA.
But the Suns would be sacrificing any chance of a solid bench if they land Tobias Harris.
Managing four players with significant salaries, especially under the new CBA rules, is going to mean they will struggle to bring in players outside of contract exceptions and veterans on a minimum contract. It will be interesting to see how the Suns move forward.
