LeBron James, even in his 20th season, has been dominating the NBA. Despite being close to 40 years old, LeBron James is still one of the best players in the world and is competing at the highest level, and putting up excellent numbers. Dwyane Wade believes that LeBron is operating on a whole different level.

During an interview at the 2023 NBA All-Star game, Dwyane Wade was asked by Brandon ‘Scoop B’ Robinson about LeBron James’ stint with the Lakers and how it compares to Michael Jordan’s final NBA years with the Wizards. Wade noted that while Jordan was great, LeBron is doing something that has never been done before, and elevating his legacy as we speak.

“No, I mean Michael averaged about 20 a game when he came back. He was still very good, but LeBron has stayed at a level that we haven’t seen. And so, the conversations of greatness, he makes it hard and all the older guys before that were like, It’s about Wilt, it’s about Kareem, it’s about these guys…”

“Because of his consistency; I mean, he’s averaging 30 points per game in the 20th year in the League! So I’m just happy that I get the opportunity to be part of his greatness in any way I can but we’re all witnesses, right? So we’re going to see where he ends up!”

Wade and LeBron played together in their prime, during their stint together in Miami. Recently, their iconic handshake was recreated in ‘Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse’

Interestingly, LeBron has continued to play at the same excellent level that he played at during his prime. While James may not be the same explosive athlete he was during his best years, LeBron is still dominating the league in a way we haven’t seen before.

LeBron James Continuing To Dominate In His Twilight Years

Despite his excellent play, it is clear that LeBron is approaching the end of his career. If we look at his time with the Los Angeles Lakers, James has played some incredible basketball. During his five seasons with the Lakers, LeBron has averaged 27.4 points, 8.1 rebounds, and 8.0 assists, and won an NBA championship.

In comparison, Michael Jordan had a solid stint with the Wizards, but not nearly as good as LeBron’s. Jordan averaged 21.2 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 4.4 assists during his two seasons with the Wizards, but never took the team to the playoffs.

Now, it must be mentioned that Jordan came out of retirement to play for the Wizards, and had taken a significant break from basketball and athletics as a whole. So for Jordan to put up those numbers is truly magnificent. But as Wade said, LeBron is doing something that has never been done.
