Karl-Anthony Towns believed the Minnesota Timberwolves‘ playoff run was more impressive than the Denver Nuggets winning their maiden NBA championships.
Speaking on Patrick Beverley’s podcast, “I just played them in the playoffs,” he said. “They were telling us our plays, ayo they weren’t even talking. Ball just goes right to the area and the person was just randomly right there. I’m like ‘How is this possible?'”
“What’s one of the things that like you see as more special? What was special was what we did in Minnesota. Because we had like a month, and then we have training camp, and it was like you better figure it all, and we figure it out right now. If you think about it. they had four years, we got it done in four months.”

While Towns may have his reasons to believe that the Wolves were indeed a better unit, there can be no denying that they were clearly outplayed by Nikola Jokic and the Nuggets. They were trounced 4-1 and then defeated the Phoenix Suns, the Los Angeles Lakers, and the Miami Heat to win the NBA Finals.
Since being drafted No. 1 in 2015, Towns led the Wolves to the playoffs just three times, and they’ve never made it past the first round. So maybe, he could look back and see how the Nuggets have fared. But then, it is one man’s opinion.
Draymond Green Calls Out Karl-Anthony Towns For Claiming To Have Changed The Game
Earlier, the Wolves star stirred up some heat when he said he claimed he would have changed the game by the time he called time on his career.
“When my time is up and I retire… There’s gonna be people who are gonna say I changed the game.” And this didn’t go down well with Draymond Green who took a shot at Towns. “Aye Pat Bev, when people come on your show they change the game?! I’m looking forward to it man,” he wrote on Twitter.
This season, Towns averaged 20.8 PPG, 8.1 RPG, and 4.8 APG for the Wolves. He is clearly a star-level player when healthy, and while he surely has the skillset that puts him at a higher place in the league, it remains to be seen if he can elevate his game to another level to see if he can back up his bold claim.
