Jamal Murray tore the ACL in his left knee back in April 2021. After missing the entire 2021-22 NBA season due to injury, he finally made a comeback last summer.

Murray averaged 26.1 PPG, 5.7 RPG, and 7.1 APG in the 2023 playoffs. He was second-in-command to Nikola Jokic. The Canadian superstar’s hard work paid off as the Denver Nuggets won the 2023 NBA Championship. After the phenomenal achievement, Murray couldn’t hold back his emotions.

“It’s just an amazing feeling. Blood, sweat, and tears to get back to this point,” Murray said. “Everybody on my team here, everybody on this floor, believed in me. Believed in me to get back to myself, and we proved a lot of doubters wrong.”

Coming back from an ACL injury is never easy. Murray thanked the Nuggets for sticking by him during his recovery.

The Nuggets were patient with Murray, and it ultimately paid off with an NBA Championship. In the 2023 NBA Finals, Murray put up 21.4 PPG, 6.2 RPG, and 10.0. APG.

Nikola Jokic Knew Jamal Murray Wouldn’t Be Good For A Couple Of Months After Returning From ACL Injury

Nikola Jokic is undoubtedly the primary superstar of the Denver Nuggets. But as good as Jokic is, he couldn’t have won the 2023 NBA title without help from Jamal Murray.

The two players share a close bond. The Joker recently revealed his message to Murray after returning from an ACL injury in an interview with ESPN’s Malika Andrews.

“I told him in the beginning of the season he’s not gonna be good the first couple months,” Jokic said. “But now, he’s playing at the level I thought he was going to play. He’s a really good player, but I think he matured. I think the injury kind of slowed him down but made him read the game better.”

Murray took his time to get back in form and ultimately exploded for a dominant run in the 2023 playoffs. He truly emerged as the Robin to Jokic’s Batman.
