Winning a championship in any sport is an incredibly challenging task. Owners spend decades building teams to have success and a formula for winning is cultivated over multiple years of trial and error. But one sports owner seems to have the pattern down.

With the Denver Nuggets winning the 2023 NBA Championship, their owner Stan Kroenke has picked up his fourth championship in the last year and a half. He’s done so with the LA Rams in the 2022 Super Bowl, the Colorado Mammoth of the National Lacrosse League as the 2022 NLL Champions, and the Colorado Avalanche in the 2022 Stanley Cup.

Kroenke could have celebrated another title if his soccer team, Arsenal FC, managed to hold on to their spot atop the Premier League in England. They ultimately finished in second place, their first championship challenge since the 2015-16 season.

Kroenke has long been criticized for his ownership of Arsenal, so winning a title there may cement him as the greatest owner in modern professional sports.

The Nuggets Shocked The World

In 47 years of existence, the Nuggets had never even made it to the NBA Finals. They had various promising playoff runs end at the doorstep of the Western Conference Finals until they finally got past that round with an emphatic sweep over the Lakers, a team that has beaten the Nuggets in multiple Conference Finals in the past.

Kroenke has owned this franchise since 2000 and has finally seen a 23-year climb atop the NBA mountain come to fruition this season. His non-champion teams like the Colorado Rapids in the MLS and Arsenal FC in England will be hoping some of Kroenke’s success rubs off on them and helps them become champions sooner rather than later.
