During the Miami Heat’s run to the NBA Finals, Caleb Martin was a crucial part of the team’s success against the Boston Celtics. In the Eastern Conference Finals, Martin averaged 19.3 PPG, 6.4 RPG, and 1.7 APG, while shooting 48.9% from the 3PT range.
However, in the NBA Finals, the forward’s performances have definitely gotten worse. Martin is only averaging 5.3 PPG, 4.0 RPG, and 1.3 APG against the Denver Nuggets. NBA analyst Stephen A. Smith has recently called him out for his poor performances, joking that he is nowhere to be found.
“There is an APB out for Caleb Martin,” Smith said. “Where the hell are you? We can’t find you. What’s going on here? It’s a missing report going on here… He has been a virtual no-show in these Finals.”

There is no doubt that Caleb Martin needs to step up as a scorer for the Miami Heat to have a chance against the Denver Nuggets. Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo can’t do everything by themselves, and going basket for basket with an elite offensive duo like Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray is extremely difficult. Hopefully, we do see Caleb Martin step up for the team, and we’ll see how he does in Game 4.
Paul Pierce Believes Caleb Martin Is Better Than Tyler Herro
There is no doubt that Caleb Martin has stepped up for the Miami Heat in the wake of all the injuries the team has suffered. In fact, Paul Pierce previously claimed that Martin is better than injured shooting guard Tyler Herro.
“I don’t want to hear nothing about Herro,” Pierce said when Kevin Garnett spoke of his potential return. “If I’m Miami, how do you even play him? They have a rhythm going. Herro being hurt might have been a blessing in disguise for them because we see what Caleb Martin turned into because Caleb Martin is better than Herro. That might throw Caleb off. You throw him off by bringing Herro back. I don’t want to see it.”
It will be interesting to see if Caleb Martin will be able to improve his production going forward. The Denver Nuggets aren’t necessarily a top-tier defense, and perhaps he’ll do better offensively as the series progresses even further.
