The Miami Heat shocked the entire basketball world by getting this far in the NBA playoffs, but the Denver Nuggets are unlike anything this team faced in the East. As a complete team fully locked into the game plan, the Nuggets have hit a perfect stride as Nikola Jokic leads them to the promised land.
In Game 1, we saw the Joker dominate in his usual fashion and it was just too much for Miami to contend with. The Heat, now down 1-0 in the series, will have to adjust and hope for a different result on Sunday. Either way, Jimmy Butler is not in the business of making excuses.
“I’m always gonna pass the ball to my teammates,” Butler said via Tomer Azarly. “I have so much belief and faith in them that they’re going to take and make shots. That’s how we played all year long, that’s not gonna change now that we’re in the Finals… I gotta put pressure on the rim. Me with no free throws, that was all on myself.”

Astonishingly, Jimmy had zero free throw attempts in the game, which is a testament to Denver’s size and stifling defense. Of course, it’s also a flaw for the Heat, who seem prone to these poor shooting nights.
Whatever the case, Miami needs to come out with some more firepower in Game 2, so expect Spoelstra to look at bringing Kyle Lowry into the starting lineup.
Can The Heat Win The Series?
Being an underdog is hardly anything new for this heat squad, but nobody is picking them to beat this Denver team, which is better in just about every way. Still, the Heat can make things interesting if they start hitting shots again. Also, Butler will have to be more efficient offensively.
“If the Miami Heat are able to win this championship, it will be, in my opinion, the greatest run ever for an underdog,” said Charles Barkley.
Just four wins away from a championship, Jimmy Butler no doubt see the opportunity in front of him. After so much work to savage, this season and make this playoff run, it would be a shame for it to end like this without a real fight.
Expect Miami to come out desperate this weekend, because another loss to this degree could ultimately be the one that decides it all.
