On his best day, Jimmy Butler ranks within the top 20 during the regular season. Throughout his carer, despite his two-way impact, Butler has been denied many of the accolades which typically distinguish the stars from the role players. But in the playoffs, none of that seems to matter and Butler elevates his game to an entirely different level.

If he wins the championship this year, it will obviously have major implications for his legacy and his rank among the all-time greats, but how far up would he move if he finished the job? According to Nick Wright, he’d move beyond James Harden, who is an all-time scorer that was named to the NBA’s Top 75 players list.

“If Jimmy Butler wins this title, he’ll replace James Harden as one of the 10 best guys to come into the league in the last 20 years. All rings don’t weigh the same. This would be a heavy ring.”

For Wright, it’s not just about Butler’s on-court play that makes him so special. His leadership, maturity, and work ethic combine to make him the ultimate competitor and that intensity can often overwhelm opponents.

So while Jimmy may not have the stats of accolades of a top 10 player of the last 20 years, his track record of success and his high-impact play has people re-considering how they view his career.

Jimmy Butler Says He Wants To Retire With The Heat

Jimmy has been a perfect fit for Heat culture from the start, and that was evident when the team became a contender after he joined. As of the time of writing, the Heat are still ringless in the Butler era but they still have plenty of time to pull it off before it’s all said and done.

“It’ll be the last jersey that I wear,” Butler told Malika Andrews in an interview.

Love it or hate it, Jimmy Butler isn’t going anywhere, and neither are the Heat, so long as he’s playing there at an elite level. With a title to his name, who could deny that Jimmy isn’t one of the best we’ve seen in this generation?
