Charles Barkley Thinks The Celtics Are Under More Pressure Than The Heat For Game 7

Charles Barkley thinks the Celtics will play under more pressure after overturning a 3-0 series deficit to force Game 7 at home.

The Boston Celtics are one win away from pulling off the impossible, fighting back from a 3-0 series deficit to possibly becoming the first team in NBA history to overcome such a deficit. They still need to win Game 7 at home to pull this off.

Charles Barkley thinks that the Celtics’ run to bring the series to 3-3 means they’re the ones under pressure to close it out, given they’re a higher seed and playing at home.

“If the Celtics lose Game 7 at home, all this ‘we making history’, y’all didn’t make no history. You got to Game 7, so all the pressure goes back to the Celtics. I said all the pressure was on the Heat tonight, now it flips. All the pressure is on the Celtics.”

The Heat were never expected to be in this position, but it doesn’t change the fact that they are in this position. Blowing a 3-0 series is going to dramatically alter the perception of Erik Spoelstra as a coach and Jimmy Butler as a player; they were being lauded for everything they achieved so far, so it’s natural that they’ll be torn down for losing four games in a row. They should be operating under more pressure.

A History-Making Outcome Either Way

The Celtics winning and going to the NBA Finals means they’ll be the first team in league history to actually overcome a 3-0 series deficit, a massive feather in the caps of these Celtics players that have become playoff veterans over the last half a decade. The Heat winning means they’ll be the first eighth seed in an 82-game season to make it all the way to the Finals.

Game 7 is going to be fascinating, and both teams will need to bring their absolute best. Not only is it going to decide which teams go to the Finals, the losers will have to deal with some serious egg on their face.
