Scottie Pippen On Michael Jordan During His 2010 Hall Of Fame Speech: “Thank You For Being The Best Teammate… I Will Cherish Our Relationship Forever.”

Scottie Pippen took some shots at Michael Jordan recently, but he wasn't always so critical of his former teammate.

Scottie Pippen has dominated the headlines over the last few days following his controversial comments regarding his former teammate Michael Jordan.

Pippen claimed Jordan was a horrible player who was all about playing 1-on-1 basketball on the court. It was just the latest in a growing list of shots taken by Pippen in recent years, but the two weren’t always on such bad terms. In fact, Pippen had chosen Jordan to induct him into the Hall of Fame back in 2010 and was full of praise for MJ in his speech.

(starts at 1:10 mark):

“MJ, you have touched so many people’s lives, but none life like mine’s. Thank you for being the best teammate. I will always cherish that experience and I will cherish our relationship forever.”

It is really sad to see how much things have changed since then. We can’t say for sure, but it would seem ‘The Last Dance’ documentary is what caused this to happen. In his book, which was released in 2021, Pippen claimed Jordan couldn’t have been more condescending if he tried in the documentary.

He also revealed that MJ apologized to him for including the clip from when he refused to play against the New York Knicks in 1994. Considering Jordan isn’t really the type to apologize for anything, the fact that he did it, says he knew he messed up. It didn’t fix their relationship, however, as it seems the bridge was really burnt to the ground after the documentary came out.

Scottie Pippen Has No Interest In Fixing His Relationship With Michael Jordan

Pippen made those comments regarding Jordan on Stacey King’s Gimme The Hot Sauce podcast, and he had a lot to get off his chest. He stated Jordan used the documentary to gain relevance in the modern era and said he isn’t going to mend fences with Jordan or his former head coach Phil Jackson because of their egos.

Time does heal all wounds, and perhaps someday in the future, Pippen will change his mind, but for now, he seems intent on taking shots at MJ. It will be interesting to see if Jordan responds to these comments, as he certainly would not have appreciated what Pippen had to say about him.
