Jaylen Brown is having an extremely tough series against the Miami Heat in the Eastern Conference Finals, capped by a disappointing 12-point performance in a Game 3 blowout.
With the Celtics down 3-0 and facing a possible sweep, Brown lamented his and his teammates’ inability to stop the Heat’s rotational players from going off.
“They’re playing well above their means. They ballin’ right now, and I gotta give them respect … Guys that we should be able to keep under control are playing their a– off.”

The Heat are known for their ability to make the most of undrafted stars. Today, unheralded talents like Gabe Vinctent scored 29, Duncan Robinson had 22 points, and Caleb Martin had 18 points. These three not only outscored Jaylen’s 12 and Jayson Tatum’s 14-point night but also teammate Jimmy Butler’s 16-point performance.
Strength In Numbers Swinging In Miami’s Favor
People have had great things to say about the Boston Celtics’ rotation all season long. Their depth is evident through Malcolm Brogdon’s win as the sixth man of the year, though Brogdon dropped a goose egg in the Game 3 blowout. Miami’s undrafted crew is playing with heart and effort on every possession, an intensity that Boston just can’t match.
Skill and ability are one thing but drive and determination are another. The Heat are using their ability to outhustle Boston and make them uncomfortable enough to go from being title favorites to staring a sweep at the hands of the eighth seed. This series has been a masterclass by Erik Spoelstra and it will be fascinating to see whether Boston can at least take the series back to Boston by winning Game 4.
