Bob Myers Won’t Take Up Another Job In The NBA Next Season If He Leaves The Warriors

Warriors GM Bob Myers isn't expected to take on another job next season if he does indeed leave the Warriors.

The 2023 offseason is a pivotal one for the Golden State Warriors after they failed to defend their title, but it looks like GM Bob Myers won’t be involved in it.

It was reported that the Warriors are bracing for Myers’ departure, but if he does leave, it would appear he isn’t joining another team next season, as per NBA insider Marc Stein.

“Bob Myers will receive a handsome new contract from the Warriors if he elects to stay with the only team he has known since leaving the player representation business in April 2011,” Stein wrote in his Substack column. “Myers might walk away anyway, but the best current read is that this is not going to be about money. There is a strong expectation in Golden State that Myers, if he ultimately elects to depart from his post as president of basketball operations, will not work in the league next season. He’s simply too close to all the Warriors’ pillars — Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, Draymond Green and Steve Kerr — to rush off and take another job. Especially so when all four of them have made it clear they want him to stay. All the latest indications suggest that, if Myers chooses to leave, it will be because he needs a break and wants to spend more time with his family before tackling his next challenge.”

You can certainly understand if Myers wants to take a bit of a break, as he has been their GM since 2012. The fact that the Warriors are willing to make him the highest-paid GM in the league, and he still isn’t sure if he wants to return, shows how much he feels he needs some time off. You can’t blame the Warriors for still wanting him around, but it sure seems like Myers is on his way out.

Draymond Green Spoke On Bob Myers’ Potential Departure

Earlier this year, both Stephen Curry and Draymond Green had spoken glowingly of Myers when news first emerged regarding a potential departure. With it looking increasingly likely that he is indeed leaving after his contract expires on the 30th of June, Green spoke about how it would suck to lose Myers.

Draymond stated that Myers is someone he trusts and that he has appreciated going to work with him all these years. It is clear that Myers has made a great impression on the players, and his departure would be a massive blow to an organization that really needs him this offseason.
