Point guard D’Angelo Russell has been a key player for the Los Angeles Lakers, and he was crucial in winning Game 3 against the Golden State Warriors. He finished with 21 points, 3 rebounds, and 5 assists on the evening, and the Lakers will need more of that from him if they are to win the series.

At the end of the season, D’Angelo Russell will be a free agent, and there is a chance that he will leave the Los Angeles Lakers. When speaking to Sam Amick of The Athletic, Russell gave an honest take on his future with the Lakers. He stated that he would love to stay with the team but noted that he would have “loved” to be with the Minnesota Timberwolves as well, prior to getting traded. It is clear that Russell is not looking too far ahead and is focused on the present.

“I would love to stay here, but I would have loved to be in Minnesota too. So wherever my feet are, that’s where I’m gonna be.”

There is no doubt that the Lakers have some decisions to make this summer, and re-signing D’Angelo Russell should be their priority. He is just entering his prime, and it makes sense to retain him for his best years. It was previously reported that the team plans to keep him, and we’ll see how this offseason goes.

In the playoffs, D’Angelo Russell has averaged 16.7 PPG, 3.2 RPG, and 6.0 APG for the Los Angeles Lakers. He is a perfect fit next to LeBron James and Anthony Davis on the court, and we’ll see if this can become a long-term trio for the team.

D’Angelo Russell Wanted A Second Chance With The Los Angeles Lakers

After the trade deadline, there were a lot of reports that suggested he was happy to be with the team. In fact, Adrian Wojnarowski suggested that Russell wanted a second chance with the Los Angeles Lakers.

“D’Angelo Russell very much wanted a second chance in LA with the Lakers and you’ve seen the impact he made coming back against Toronto the other night, playing great in a win, and again tonight,” said Adrian Wojnarowski.“He wants to be the point guard of the future for this organization. He’ll be a free agent this summer.”

Hopefully, D’Angelo Russell decides that he wants to stay with the Los Angeles Lakers. The team will likely have to offer him a lucrative multi-year contract to keep him, and we’ll see what happens in the future.
