The fact that the Atlanta Hawks couldn’t get the ball to inbound in Game 6 of the first-round Eastern Conference playoffs against the Boston Celtics showed their struggles.
The side tried to inbound the ball four times but was thrown out of bounds. Cut to the final stretch where the Hawks retained possession of the ball that went out of bounds, Trae Young attempted to get the ball back to play but failed on both counts after throwing it off Marcus Smart (including hitting it flush into his groin).
Soon after, it was De’Andre Hunter bouncing one off Al Horford and then throwing a pass to no one, resulting in a turnover.

Quite simply, Young struggled to get past the ball due to Smart’s length, while Hunter just bopped it right to Horford, and then threw a hail mary that went nowhere. The end result: The Celtics squawked the Hawks 128-120 and booked a date with the Philadelphia 76ers in the second round of the playoffs.
Trae Young Makes Bold Claim Despite The Hawks’ Series Loss
His own future in Atlanta might be up in the air, but Trae Young remained confident that the Hawks would go on to win an NBA title soon. He also praised head coach Quin Snyder.
“Quin (Snyder) is the future. I believe with him here, this city’s going to win a championship,” the guard told in the aftermath of the 4-2 loss.
Earlier, reports of Young being shipped did the rounds, but he did share light on the topic. Speaking to The Athletic’s Joe Vardon, Young said:
“It could be false, could be true, you never know. It’s hard – you can’t look at it. Especially as the player at the moment, you can’t look at what’s gonna come next year.”
He further added: “After the game, if the game doesn’t go your way tonight, what’s gonna happen? Like, you can’t focus on things like that. That messes up your head and then you’re not ready to play. So, me, I’m not worried about that. I’m gonna let my gameplay. After the season, whatever happens, happens. I mean, I’m focused on the next task at hand.”
For all the murmurs in Atlanta, it remains to be seen if the Hawks front office decides to run it back with Young, or he may have just said a cryptic goodbye by saying the city would win a championship.
