Anthony Davis and the Los Angeles Lakers had a chance to clinch their first-round series against the Memphis Grizzlies in Game 5 but couldn’t get the job done. They will now play at home in Game 6 as they try to book a spot in the Western Conference Semifinals.

The Los Angeles Lakers‘ new-look roster has been massive for them this postseason, with LeBron James not having to carry the team by himself. But as has been said before, the trump card is always if Anthony Davis can play to his best and play a long time. And he recently said he’d play 48 minutes in Game 6 to win, leading to some reactions from NBA fans.

Some fans are feeling confident about the Los Angeles Lakers. As this one fan pointed out, Davis might even need to play the whole 48 minutes.

Anthony Davis hasn’t been able to stay very consistent, but he is an MVP-caliber player at his best. And fans think his confidence means a considerable performance is incoming.

As much as some fans have loved the spirit he is showing with this quote, some are more realistic. One fan explained why there is no point in overexerting Anthony Davis now.

While there is nothing better than seeing Anthony Davis fit and raring to go, the fact remains that he has been injury prone in his career. And it’s no surprise that quite a few fans were pointing it out and willing to troll him for it as well.

The takeaway from this for everyone should be that Anthony Davis is locked in and committed to doing what he needs to for the Lakers to win. It’s unlikely he’ll need to play 48 minutes, but in this situation, the sentiment matters more than the words.

Anthony Davis Is Already Playing Through Injury

By the time the playoffs get underway, nearly every NBA player is banged up. Injuries happen every year, and Anthony Davis himself has been struggling with a hip issue

“It’s been bothering me for probably like a week-and-a-half now,” Davis said. “But there’s no way I was coming out. Just trying to give what I could to the team. I’ll be fine, though.”

Anthony Davis has been accused by some of not loving basketball enough, but he is proving that he is willing to do what it takes. He is already a champion, and if he gets going in these playoffs, another one isn’t out of the question.
