Big man Jaren Jackson Jr. is one of the best defensive players in the league, well-known for his rim protection and shot-blocking ability. It seems as though his efforts have been rewarded by the NBA award voters.

It was recently reported that Jaren Jackson Jr. has been selected as the NBA’s Defensive Player of the Year for the 2022-23 season. There’s no doubt that this award is well-deserved, and it is clear that Jackson Jr. really has a big impact on the Memphis Grizzlies on that end of the floor.

This is definitely a great honor for Jaren Jackson Jr., and the DPOY is an award a lot of players hope to win throughout their careers. This is only the beginning of Jaren Jackson Jr’s elite years as well, and it would be no surprise to see him win the award once again in the future. He can definitely mess up a team’s entire offensive game plan due to his multi-positional defense and presence near the basket, and it’s scary to think that he can get even better.

This season, Jaren Jackson Jr. averaged 18.6 PPG, 6.8 RPG, and 3.0 BPG, while shooting 35.5% from the 3PT range. Despite his best efforts in Game 1, the Memphis Grizzlies are down to the Los Angeles Lakers in their first-round series, and hopefully, they bounce back with him at the helm on defense.
