The Golden State Warriors have maintained a core of Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green, with Curry as the centerpiece for years. They have won 4 titles since 2015 and have been the defining team in the NBA.

Steve Kerr and Bob Myers think Steph is the reason behind the team’s continued success over nearly a decade.

Bob Myers: “How come we have been able to maintain our success for 9 years?

Steve Kerr: “It’s because of Steph Curry.”

Bob Myers: “Yeah.”

Steve Kerr: “There are other factors for sure. I think you and I, there’s a reason why we are in each of our jobs. I think we’re capable of being self-aware to say exactly what you just said about how vulnerable we are and how this relationship is built to fail. It just is. But when you have Steph Curry as the centerpiece of your organization, someone who embodies every value that you want to espouse. Someone who allows these relationships to flourish day in and day out, win or lose. It just impacts everything. I think Steph has kept this thing afloat because of the power of his own humanity and who he is on top of how great of a player he is. The stability he brings it reminds me a lot of Tim Duncan in San Antonio. When you have that guy, it makes your job and my job that much easier.”

Bob Myers: "How come we've been able to maintain [success] for 9 years?"

Steve Kerr: "Because of Steph Curry… I think Steph has kept this thing afloat because of the power of his own humanity and who he is on top of how great of a player he is."pic.twitter.com/NJWwwRHZqO

The Golden State Warriors have built the only true dynasty in the NBA over the last decade. The Cleveland Cavaliers flamed out in 2018, the Brooklyn Nets never got going with Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving, and the Los Angeles Lakers never provided a stable supporting cast to LeBron James and Anthony Davis.

Curry’s steady nature has helped tremendously. He had the ego to accept Kevin Durant as a teammate for 3 seasons and won 2 titles with him to the extent of winning his own Finals MVP. He evolved his game to better suit the Warriors’ needs and has been the glue holding the team together for years.

Is The Championship Dynasty Over?

The Warriors haven’t clinched a playoff spot this season with two games remaining. This is a massive fall for the reigning champions, that need to win every game and hope the Lakers lose at least one of their final two games to clinch the 6th seed and avoid the play-in tournament.

Stephen Curry has been amazing as usual but has dealt with injuries. Klay Thompson has rediscovered his pre-injury form, while Draymond Green is still the reliable defensive anchor of the squad.

They have been a horrible team on the road and one of the best teams in the league at home. The squad will hope to reconcile those swings as they head into the playoffs without home-court advantage for the first time since 2015.
