Playing under the bright lights of the Los Angeles Lakers has never been easy given the expectation of excellence and immense fan scrutiny. It’s been hard for many former players and it seems a current player is also struggling with it.
Malik Beasley joined the team at the trade deadline to be their resident shooter. Sadly, Beasley has struggled so far which has led to fans sending him hate. After being trolled ruthlessly on a birthday post he made for his son on Instagram, Beasley had to address the hate, asking fans to respect his family.

This is nothing new for Lakers players, with a whole host of recent examples showing how fickle the fans can be,
And now Malik Beasley is asking Lakers fans to leave his family alone.

Beasley hasn’t had the ideal start to his career on the Lakers, averaging 11.7 points and 3.5 rebounds through the 19 games he has played with the team. He is shooting 38.1% from the field and 34.9% from 3, really poor numbers for a volume shooter that the Lakers desperately need for spacing.
The Russell Westbrook Experience Shows How Badly Fans Can Treat Players
There are instances of players being harassed by Lakers fans going back years, with Danny Green infamously getting death threats while he is inside the bubble in 2020 for missing a game-winning shot. What happened with Russell Westbrook and his family showed how frequently these attacks can happen.
Nina Westbrook received death threats during Russ’s time with LA, with her even speaking out about how she hopes no other star that goes to the Lakers has to deal with the kind of hate Russ had been receiving. Westbrook also had fans mocking him from the sidelines of the game almost regularly.
It’s not easy being a Laker and the biggest stars have stumbled at times. Beasley may not get a better situation to contend in where he’s as valuable as he is in LA, so he will be motivated to be a highly-valuable playoff player for the team as they look to make an improbable title run.
