The Dallas Mavericks and Golden State Warriors are locking horns in one of the most important matchups of the regular season for both teams.
Dallas is evidently not playing with the same seriousness as Golden State, as they gave up 2 points for no reason after accidentally guarding the wrong basket on a Warriors’ inbounds play.
Warriors get a free bucket after the Mavs defend the wrong basket 😅

This is actually an unacceptable mistake by the coaching staff. Jason Kidd has bemoaned having to actively coach his team before, preferring that the players figure out what they need to do in the game’s flow. His coaching has been one of the worst in the league this season, and a mistake like this goes to show how the Mavericks’ coaching is exceptionally flimsy.
Something Needs To Change In Dallas
The Mavericks were one of the top-10 defensive teams in the NBA last season before completely falling apart this year. Even before they traded for Kyrie Irving, Dallas was struggling to be a good defensive team. Losing Dorian Finney-Smith meant that Dallas literally has no stoppers on their team and rely on outscoring opponents to stay competitive.
They haven’t been competitive since the All-Star break and are about to lose a game at home to the Golden State Warriors, one of the worst road teams in the NBA. This game also gives the Warriors the tiebreaker over Dallas if the teams end the season with a tied record. The Mavs will fall under .500 if they lose to Golden State. If it’s a 2-point loss, they should be furious at the lack of effort they show defensively.
Effort is something the players show if a coaching staff can motivate them, as Jason Kidd and company did last season. His message has already worn out. With his inability to make adjustments mid-game, it seems the Mavs need to look at an old-school coach that gives the team structure.
