Klay Thompson Gets Real On The Warriors’ Final Stretch Of The Regular Season: “Every Game Is So Vital…”

Klay Thompson added that the playoffs were a challenge in itself and the Warriors would have to look at their remaining games as opportunities for a "great warmup".

Klay Thompson clearly outlined what the Golden State Warriors needed to do as they approach the final stretch of the regular season.

“Well as a competitor you relish in the moments of the most important games, and we’re coming down to the home stretch,” Thompson said, speaking to the media ahead of the team’s clash against the Dallas Mavericks. “Every game is so vital for our playoff stakes. It’s exciting times.”

He further added that the playoffs were a challenge in itself and the team would have looked at their remaining games as a “great warmup” to take on sterner tests.

The good news for Golden State was that they finally notched up one win on the road. Their 121-108 win against the Houston Rockets saw them snap their 11-road game slump.

Despite the win, the Warriors aren’t necessarily favorites as they face the Mavericks in the latter’s backyard. They haven’t exactly been the clinical unit they were last season and have their task cut out if they intend to make the postseason in a tightly-packed Western Conference.

Klay Thompson Believes The Warriors Are A Legitimate Playoff Threat

Earlier this season, Thompson was one of the players who was optimistic about the Warriors’ chances of defending their title. He firmly stressed that the team, despite their injury-riddled and inconsistent run would be a threat in the playoffs.

Per NBC Sports, “With 20 games left, it’s such a golden opportunity for us to increase our seeding,” he said.

“And I promise you this, when we’re healthy, no one wants to see us in the postseason. I promise you that. We expect to win a championship while we are here. Everything else is falling short and that’s a privileged position to be in. Not many franchises can wholeheartedly say that.”

At the time of writing, the Warriors barely have their heads above water. They’re 37-36 after their win against the Rockets but still find themselves in sixth place with the Mavericks breathing down their necks. Only time will tell if Golden State can make the playoff push, after all, the writing is on the wall.
