The Milwaukee Bucks will only go as far as Giannis Antetokounmpo takes them, but star point guard Jrue Holiday is also an essential piece to the formula.

This season, one of his best, Jrue is averaging 19.4 points, 7.3 assists, and 5.2 rebounds per game on 47.2% shooting. According to NBA legend Kevin Garnett, who spoke on his podcast ‘KG Certified’, his efforts are enough to call him the Bucks’ best player right now.

Here’s what he said, much to the disbelief of his former teammate, Paul Pierce:

“You watching Jrue Holiday? You watching Jrue Holiday picking up De’Aaron Fox? He’ll take the big three, come down, get the strip… he’s the Bucks’ best player right now. Jriue Holiday is f–ing leading the pack when it comes to the Bucks. [Giannis] has been out a couple of games. For the second half of the season, he’s been their best player to me.”

While Giannis has missed some games recently, he’s only played in three fewer games than Holiday overall. Even still, it’s a major stretch to say he’s the best player even counting all the games Giannis has missed.

By the end of the clip, you can see Garnett struggling to defend his take, but both guys can agree that the Bucks are going to be tough to beat when the postseason begins in April.

Can Giannis Lead Bucks To Another Championship?

Jrue and Giannis aren’t the only stars in Milwaukee. This season, both Khris Middleton and Brook Lopez have hit a nice stride and have made their presence felt in a multitude of ways.

Together, it has led to a 50-20 record for the Bucks, which currently stands as the best in the NBA and they aren’t looking to slow down now.

“We gotta build good habits. Just like you guys, you guys have built for six or seven years, great habits,” Giannis told Draymond Green. “Like, no matter where you guys are in the ranking, you guys always have the opportunity to win because you’ve built such good habits that are hard to break. So, that’s what we’re trying to do, we’re trying to build good habits right now, play good basketball, get guys healthy, compete defensively, and maybe that gives us a chance to win a championship.”

We will just have to wait and see if the Bucks are able to capture another championship in the Giannis era, but only a fool would count them out given all the assets and talent they have on the roster.

Among them is Jrue Holiday, who continues to prove why the Bucks have put so much faith in him.
