Klay Thompson believes the Golden State Warriors will end their torrid road trip run when they embark on a five-game away stretch starting off against the LA Clippers on Wednesday.

Per NBC Sports, “I think we’re going to do it with these next five games,” Thompson said when asked about the possibility of Golden State setting their sorry road trip numbers straight

“I think we’re going to come out of this road trip with a lot of great momentum,” he further added. “And although history this season has been not so good to us, I think it’s our time to ramp up our ability to win games.”

Thompson’s comment comes on the back of his spectacular 38-point performance against the Phoenix Suns to help the side coast to a 123-112 win.

The team’s road record has been paltry at best, with a dismal 7-26 record, and in the 13 games remaining in the regular season, the Warriors play eight of those away from home.

After the Clippers clash on Wednesday, they head off to Atlanta (Friday) against the Hawks, then Memphis (Saturday), followed by stops at Houston (March 20), and Dallas (March 22).

Can The Warriors Slay Their Road Trip Demons?

The answer to the above question depends on whether the Warriors can maintain their momentum and consistency. Their wins against the Milwaukee Bucks and the Phoenix Suns give them that much-needed boost, but their upcoming slate of games is challenging.

While they are expected to win against the Rockets, the rest of the teams are more than just a handful for the likes of Thompson and Stephen Curry. With the team not reportedly happy with Jordan Poole’s performances, the scoring load will have to be borne by the splash brothers, who themselves have battled injuries and inconsistency.

At the time of writing, the Warriors are 36-33 and are still pegged to make the playoffs, even though there have been hot takes that they may not be defending their title this year. Their upcoming away game slate will test their mettle, and it remains to be seen if they can slay those demons and repeat their last year’s feat again.
