The ousting of Donald Sterling from ownership of the Los Angeles Clippers was one of the landmark moments in recent NBA history.
Now, those series of events are being shown in FX’s upcoming series, The Sterling Affairs and we got a look at the actors who are going to play some of the key roles.

Doc Rivers was the Clippers’ head coach at the time and he is going to be played by Laurence Fishburne, a three-time Emmy award winner. Rivers had to navigate through a very difficult situation at the time and to his credit, he did a good job. The role of Sterling has gone to Ed O’Neill while his alleged mistress V. Stiviano will be played by Cleopatra Coleman.
The show is set to release at some point this year and it should be an interesting watch. The six-episode series tells the story of the Clippers’ quest to win a title while the whole Sterling situation was going on.
The Donald Sterling Scandal
Sterling became the owner of the Clippers in 1981 and was not a very popular figure. The team struggled, for the most part, under his leadership and just when things seemed to be getting better, Sterling found himself in deep trouble. In 2014, TMZ released a recording of a conversation between him and Stiviano where he made some racist remarks.
Once that got out, Sterling’s days as an owner were numbered. Commissioner Adam Silver, who will be played here by Darin Cooper, announced a few days later that Sterling had been banned from the league for life and that he would force him to sell the team. This was something that had never happened before and while Sterling tried to resist, the team was ultimately sold to Steve Ballmer. An individual like Sterling has no place in the NBA and the Clippers have been better off without him in more ways than one. The recent Robert Sarver scandal drew some comparisons to the Sterling situation and the NBA would be hoping that more of them don’t pop up in the years to come.
