An unrestricted free agent, who is on the radar of multiple teams this season, Kyrie Irving hopes that the next team he plays for will be the last in his career.

According to ESPN’s Ramona Shelburne, the 31-year-old guard is reportedly looking for his next NBA team to be the last of his career as he searches for a “place that feels like home.”

Irving has spent the second half of this past season with the Dallas Mavericks after he was traded by the Brooklyn Nets in February. Despite his new team failing to make the playoffs, the guard was consistent, averaging 27.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 6.0 assists in his 20 games for the side.

The eight-time All-Star spent the first six years of his career with the Cleveland Cavaliers before shifting base to the Boston Celtic. He followed it up with the Nets and is now with the Mavericks

Irving spent the first six years of his career with the Cleveland Cavaliers before moving on to the Boston Celtics (2017-2019), Brooklyn Nets (2019-2023), and subsequently with the Mavericks.

He has maintained that his objective is to win another championship. Per Bally Sports’ Brandon Robinson, Irving “wants a ring bad.”

On their part, Dallas is ready to go all in and ensure that Irving stays a Mavericks for the foreseeable future. Earlier, team owner Mark Cuban reiterated that re-signing the guard was their top priority.

It remains to be seen if that part of the deal comes to fruition and Irving will stay with Dallas.

Adrian Wojnarowski Says The Landing Spots For Kyrie Irving Will Be Limited

While multiple teams have expressed interest in Kyrie Irving, NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski believes the former NBA champion will have limited landing spots, barring the Mavericks.

“The market for Kyrie Irving, legitimate places that he would leave Dallas for, that would make sense, that are available to him, its extremely limited… almost nil. The full expectation is he returns to Dallas. The question will be, what kind of a deal does he go back on… I don’t think the money will be an issue, as how many fully guaranteed years there are for Kyrie Irving… that is going to be the negotiation between him and the Dallas Mavericks.”

Given the latest updates, chances are Irving will remain with the Mavericks. But given how free agency may pan out. There’s no telling how it works for Irving.
