LeBron James is undoubtedly one of the greatest players to ever pick up a basketball. Over a nearly 20-year career, he’s built one of the best resumes of any athlete and continues to dominate late into his 30s.
Sadly for James, his stint with the Lakers has been anything but smooth sailing. In fact, for most of his seasons in Los Angeles, the Lakers have been more of an afterthought in the pursuit of a title.
Still, LeBron can always look back on his title run in 2020 with pride. And, according to Shaquille O’Neal, that one title with the Lakers makes him deserving of a statue outside the Crypto.com arena.
“He did win a championship with the Lakers,” said O’Neal. “A lot of people say that don’t count and if you can’t count his then you can’t count Mr. Tim Duncan’s bubble championship. That’s right, I said it! If you gonna count Tim Duncan’s bubble championship, you have to count LeBron’s.”
LeBron James deserves a statue in front of @cryptocom because he brought a championship to Los Angeles says @SHAQ to @BallySports.

LeBron has certainly done enough to be considered among other great Lakers like Kobe Bryant, Magic Johnson, and even O’Neal himself. The question is, was the run in 2020 the final stand for this Lakers team?
After a series of trades this summer, the franchise is hoping to extend its title window for at least a few more years.
Will LeBron James Win Another Championship?
In five seasons with the Purple and Gold, LeBron is putting up 27.5 points, 8.1 rebounds, and 8 assists per game on 50% shooting. Sadly, with questions about the coaching supporting cast, and durability of Anthony Davis, there are some major doubts that LeBron’s superstar-level play will be enough to get the Lakers back to the Finals.
With a 27-32 record, the Los Angeles is just 13th in the West with a pretty tough schedule remaining.
If they do happen to sneak into the playoffs, we know what awaits them in the first round. With the Nuggets, Grizzlies, and Suns likely to move into the top three seeds in the West, LA will likely have to beat one of them if they want to advance.
Only time will tell how it all plays out, but LeBron gives them a chance against anybody and his superior talent is what has kept them somewhat relevant for the past five years.
