Kevin Durant’s comments on being one of the best players ever to play the game of basketball during his introductory press conference for the Phoenix Suns sparked a debate on social media.

Durant was traded to the Suns and was one of the blockbuster storylines ahead of the deadline this season. Ahead of his anticipated February 24 debut with his new team, the veteran sounded supremely confident in his statement.

As far as the debate goes, there were mixed opinions on whether he did make the cut as the Top 15, which comprises some familiar names, former and present. Over the years, Durant has made a case for himself as one of the bona fide stars to take the hardwood and has ample achievements to his name.

To start with, the forward is a two-time NBA champion, a two-time MVP, and a 13-time NBA All-Star, drawing up comparisons with the likes of his former Golden State Warriors teammate, Stephen Curry.

It should be worth noting that Curry is one of the players regarded as one of the greatest shooters to play, and Durant does stack up against him as a more efficient player, though the trophies see the sharpshooter better placed.

Compare Durant to a yesteryear star, say a Magic Bird; for instance, the two are relatively close in terms of numbers. However, there are certain aspects where the Boston Celtics legend pips Durant.

All things considered, there’s no doubt that Durant will go down as one of the more prolific players in the NBA. He does make the Top 15 in Fadeaway World’s GOAT pyramid.

Kevin Durant Says The Phoenix Suns Have What It Takes To Win The NBA Championship This Season

Kevin Durant’s arrival at Phoenix makes the side, not just a superteam comprising Devin Booker, Chris Paul, and Deandre Ayton but also a title contender who has some games to gel and assert its dominance.

And Durant believes that the Suns have the necessary firepower to go the distance and put him in sight of his third championship.

“We’ve got all the pieces to be successful.”

The Suns are 32-28 in the West at the time of writing and come off a loss to the LA Clippers, but they will have Durant suiting up soon, and his presence will bolster their offense.

The press conference has seen Durant make some bold claims, and only time will tell if he and the Suns can back them up. For now, it’s optimism all around.
