Throughout his time with the Los Angeles Lakers, point guard Russell Westbrook has received a huge deal of criticism. There is no doubt that he has often been labeled as the problem for the Los Angeles Lakers, and the team seemingly thought so as well as he was shipped to the Utah Jazz in a three-team deal.

Los Angeles Clippers forward Nicolas Batum recently defended Russell Westbrook, pointing out that situations can be everything for a player. Batum used himself as an example, noting that he was considered the “worst player” in the league before his tenure with the Clippers. Nicolas Batum also spoke out in support of the Los Angeles Clippers, adding Russell Westbrook, stating that he’d welcome the point guard with open arms.

I understand all that stuff… I understand the situation he was in for the last two years… I was labeled the worst player in the NBA before I got to the Clippers… Some situations work for you, some don’t. Doesn’t define you as a player… I would welcome him with open arms… He’s a great player… If we do it I will be more than happy… Hall of Fame, MVP, can’t really say no to that.

The Los Angeles Clippers currently lack a true pass-first point guard, and it is easy to see why they would want Russell Westbrook on their team. The point guard would potentially get to stay in Los Angeles if he signed with the Clippers after getting a buyout, and this seems like a positive arrangement for both sides.

Paul George Also Thinks Russell Westbrook Could Do Well On The Clippers

Nicolas Batum is definitely not the only Los Angeles Clippers player to be open to Russell Westbrook joining them. Previously, Paul George openly stated that Russell Westbrook would be a good fit with the team.

“If there’s somebody out there, Russell. You know, if it makes sense and obviously it goes with our team, we’re all for it. We’re all for having a point guard. But you know, in saying that, I think we’re good as well if nothing happens. I think we’ve got enough in this locker room to make it work. But it would definitely improve our team… Make the game easy. Hopefully Russell sees this, and we figure something out.”

It remains to be seen if the Los Angeles Clippers will manage to land Russell Westbrook in the future. As of right now, the Chicago Bulls are reportedly the frontrunners for the point guard’s services, and it is clear that Russell Westbrook is keeping his options open.

Hopefully, the Los Angeles Clippers do get Russell Westbrook. He would clearly be a good PG option for the team, and the high number of shooters that the Clippers have would make his offensive skill set a good fit.
