Ben Simmons was once an All-Star level player with the Philadelphia 76ers, being highly regarded due to his defense and playmaking ability. However, he has definitely not played on that level with the Brooklyn Nets

Recently, NBA Analyst Zach Lowe delivered a scathing take on Ben Simmons, calling him the “third-string center for the Brooklyn Nets”. Lowe did also empathize with Ben Simmons however, noting that he wants to see the “old Ben Simmons” once again.

“I’m out of takes on Ben Simmons. He’s the third string center on the Brooklyn Nets… He’s clearly a broken player, mentally. He’s scared of contact, he’s scared of free throws… It’s just sad to watch because we all know what this guy was as recently as 2 years ago. There’s no point anymore in beating him up… I hope we see the old Ben Simmons or 75% of it again.”

Hopefully, we see Ben Simmons bounce back going forward. He has previously stated that it will take some time for him to return to All-Star form, and perhaps we’ll see the old version of Ben Simmons come back at some point in the future. Ben Simmons was a tremendous player not too long ago, and everyone would love to see him play at a high level once again.

Ben Simmons Reportedly Has No Trade Value Around The NBA

Though Ben Simmons may still have some untapped upside, GMs clearly didn’t want anything to do with Simmons at the trade deadline. A previous report revealed that Ben Simmons had “no value” in any trade deal.

“Ben Simmons has no value around the league right now in any potential deal.”

There is no doubt that Ben Simmons’ value is the lowest it has ever been right now. Despite once being one of the best finishers in the league, Ben Simmons is now unwilling to be aggressive near the rim. That needs to change before any team feels confident about him as a player.

It is unfortunate to see Ben Simmons’ play regress like this, as he was once considered to be one of the brightest young talents in the league. However, he is in control of his destiny as of right now. If Ben Simmons can once again become a player that is willing to slash to the basket and finish, then his value and stock around the league will increase tremendously.
