LeBron James Posts A Cryptic Tweet After Lakers Fail To Land Kyrie Irving

LeBron James has shared a cryptic tweet, seemingly blaming himself for the Lakers failures in the trade market after they missed out on Kyrie Irving.

LeBron James just saw the Lakers blow the best chance they had at getting a star. After repeatedly insisting that he would trade both the Lakers’ remaining first-round picks for a star-level player, Rob Pelinka failed to convince the Nets to send Irving to LA.

Kyrie will now be rocking up as the backcourt partner of Luka Doncic on the Dallas Mavericks, strengthening a rival team in the same conference as the Lakers.

LeBron James naturally wanted Kyrie on the Lakers, saying ‘duh’ when asked about the same after their loss to the Pelicans. The former 2016 champions were looking to reunite with each other, but the Mavericks swooped in to keep him from joining the Lakers or even the Clippers.

LeBron is seemingly blaming himself for yet another failure for the Lakers in the trade market, sharing an odd tweet after the trade to Dallas was confirmed for Irving.

Maybe It’s Me

— LeBron James (@KingJames) February 6, 2023

LeBron is going to become the NBA’s leading scorer this week but it seems the emotions at that time will be bittersweet, given the state of the Lakers’ roster.

Does LeBron James Deserve Blame For The Lakers’ Current Roster?

James isn’t as culpable as Rob Pelinka in terms of what the Lakers have built. Naturally, the team listened to LBJ when he suggested the Anthony Davis trade and got the role players LeBron wanted for that 2020 title run. However, since then, it doesn’t look like James has been able to force Pelinka into doing anything.

LBJ recommending the Russell Westbrook trade and setting the Lakers back definitely changed the relationship between the star and the GM. With Jeanie Buss not wanting to trade the Lakers’ future picks, the team can expect only bargain bin additions before the deadline instead of a big splash like Irving would have been.
